  • OBN Participant's Agreement

    The Oil Buying Network is a fuel-buying service that enables homeowners and small businesses to obtain premium heating oil and service at a discount. OBN utilizes the combined purchasing power of its members to negotiate with suppliers. Your price is guaranteed to stay below average retail prices.

    OBN chooses reputable suppliers on the basis of their price, service coverage and service record. We will call you within one business day to confirm the information you have supplied and to provide information about your OBN supplier. We will also send you a confirmation packet that will include the service contract of your supplier. You should receive the confirmation packet from us within 10 days. Please call our office if you do not.

    Remember, OBN doesn't deliver your oil, provide your heating system's maintenance and repair service, or pay your bills. Only your supplier delivers fuel oil and services your system according to its service contract with you. And only the supplier may be responsible for personal and property damages, if any. By signing this agreement, you are agreeing that you understand this and won't hold OBN responsible for any damages you may incur for any reason. You also authorize OBN to represent you in contract negotiations with your suppliers.

    You may purchase as much oil as you desire through OBN. Your supplier provides oil on an automatic delivery basis.

    The supplier may cancel your account if you do not pay bills according to usual business practice. If the supplier does cancel your account for any reason, he must forward an explanation to OBN. Of course, you may cancel at any time simply by notifying OBN and the supplier. If you're not satisfied at any time with the service you receive from your OBN dealer, OBN will either provide a new dealer, or if we are unable to do so, fully refund your annual membership fee. Cancellations for any other reason are non-refundable.

    By choosing accept, you are authorizing OBN and its supplier to check your credit rating and let credit bureaus know of your performance with this account. Your membership begins when we receive your annual dues and lasts one year. We will renew your membership automatically unless you notify OBN in writing at least 15 days before it expires.

    Regular membership in OBN is $20 per year. If you are a senior citizen or a member of one of our affiliated labor unions you will likely qualify for a discount on membership.

    Your oil deliveries and service will be performed by your OBN supplier. You will receive your oil bills from them and you will pay them directly. If you have a problem with your heating system you will also contact them directly.

    No. OBN members have historically renewed at a 96% rate annually which reflects an extraordinary level of satisfaction with their heating oil dealers.

    OBN negotiates your discount directly with your local OBN affiliated heating oil supplier. In exchange for a large volume of business, these dealers significantly reduce their normal profit margins. You can expect to save between 10 and 25 cents per gallon on your heating oil.
